Sophon has announced it will permanently shut down its mainnet on November 30, giving users a narrow window to act. Anyone with funds on the network must complete withdrawals by November 25, five days before the shutdown date.
Sophon Sets November 30 as Its Mainnet Shutdown Date
Sophon stated that its mainnet will go offline on November 30. The project identified two separate dates users need to keep in mind: November 25 as the withdrawal deadline and November 30 as the final shutdown date. For related coverage, see BlackRock Files for Bitcoin-Linked ETF With Downside Protection.
The distinction matters. November 25 is the last day Sophon says withdrawals should be completed, not the day the network stops. Users who wait until November 30 may find themselves unable to move funds in time. For related coverage, see French Assembly Backs Crypto-to-Stablecoin Tax Plan.
Sophon is a blockchain network with its own native token, listed on major crypto data trackers. The mainnet shutdown means the live network that processes real transactions and holds real assets will stop operating entirely. Why Sophon Users Need to Complete Withdrawals by November 25
The November 25 deadline is five days ahead of the November 30 shutdown. That buffer exists so users have time to complete transactions before the network becomes unavailable. For related coverage, see BlackRock Files for iShares Bitcoin Managed Protection ETF (PBIT).
Crypto withdrawals involve on-chain transactions, which require a live network to confirm. Once the mainnet shuts down on November 30, any funds still sitting in Sophon wallets or contracts on that network would have no active chain to process a withdrawal from.
Sophon has not publicly confirmed in available sources what happens to funds left on the network after shutdown. Users should consult Sophon’s official communications directly for that detail. The announcement does not leave room for ambiguity on timing: November 25 is the stated action deadline.
This type of shutdown announcement is relatively rare in crypto. Most projects wind down gradually or migrate users to a new chain. A hard mainnet shutdown with a firm withdrawal deadline requires faster action from anyone holding assets on the network. For context, other blockchain projects have navigated similar transitions, such as when JPM Coin moved dollar deposits onto Ethereum’s mainnet, highlighting how network-level decisions directly affect users holding assets on a chain.
Key Dates for the Sophon Mainnet Shutdown
Here is the confirmed timeline based on Sophon’s announcement:
- November 25: Last day to complete withdrawals from the Sophon network
- November 30: Sophon mainnet shuts down permanently
If you hold SOPHON tokens or any other assets on the Sophon mainnet, the November 25 deadline is the date that requires action. Waiting until the shutdown date itself carries risk.
For full details on supported withdrawal methods, eligible assets, and any official guidance on unclaimed funds, check Sophon’s official website and social channels directly. The announcement as reported does not cover those specifics, and that information could change before the deadline.
