Bitmine Immersion Technologies added 10,399 ETH over the past week, lifting its total Ethereum holdings to roughly 5.8 million ETH, the largest known corporate ETH treasury and a position now big enough to move the conversation around institutional Ethereum ownership.
The disclosure came in an exhibit filed with an SEC Form 8-K on August 3, 2026. Bitmine said that as of August 2, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. ET it held 5,797,813 ETH, equal to 4.8% of the stated 120.7 million ETH supply. For related coverage, see Clearstream Adds XRP, SOL, ADA and AVAX to Crypto Custody.
Bitmine’s Latest ETH Purchase in Context
The weekly addition was modest against the size of the existing stack, but it continued a steady accumulation pace. Chairman Thomas “Tom” Lee framed the buying directly in the filed release.

The size and speed matter because the addition keeps Bitmine on track toward the 5% supply threshold it has publicly targeted. The company earlier said it needed roughly 507,000 more ETH to reach that 5% goal, and the latest week narrows that gap.
What 5.8 Million ETH Says About Bitmine’s Treasury Strategy
Bitmine is running an ETH-denominated treasury rather than holding cash reserves, a model that echoes how Strategy built its bitcoin treasury but with Ethereum as the reserve asset.
The strategy is not purely passive. Bitmine reported that 4,917,189 ETH was staked as of August 2, valued at about $9.2 billion at an assumed $1,880 per ETH, meaning most of the treasury is generating yield rather than sitting idle. The company has previously logged $45.7 million in ETH staking revenue as that yield engine scaled.
Those figures are confirmed disclosures. The interpretation that follows, that companies build large ETH positions to combine balance-sheet exposure with staking income, is analysis grounded in that staked balance rather than a claim by Bitmine itself.
Why the Crypto Market Is Watching Bitmine’s ETH Stack
A position of this scale is a market signal because it concentrates a measurable share of ETH supply on one balance sheet. Independent coverage from The Block noted Bitmine is staking over 4.9 million of the roughly 5.8 million ETH it owns, placing the company inside a broader institutional staking trend.
The accumulation is landing in a cautious tape. Ether traded near $1,841.95, down about 0.7% on the day against a market capitalization of roughly $222 billion, while the crypto Fear & Greed Index sat at 28, in “Fear” territory.
Bitmine framed the U.S. policy backdrop as supportive, citing the GENIUS Act and the SEC’s Project Crypto, though those references are contextual commentary in the release rather than evidence for the holdings count. Investor appetite for the name remains visible, with ARK Invest recently adding BitMine shares alongside the company’s own concurrent buyback of stock.
